As coal is a hard black or dark brown sedimentary rock used as fuel, so is the narrative and printmaking of artists’ Rabe’a Ballin, Ann Johnson, Delita Martin and Lovie Olivia. For a fifth consecutive year these artist joined forces as the ROUX Collective to create the exhibition COAL for PrintHouston. Using innovative printmaking as a primary medium, each artist explores identity, personal narratives, reflections, and engages the viewer in interactive conversation.
